AERIAL FILMING - High resolution filming Air-to-Air or Air-to-Ground.

In cooperation with our partner Blue Sky Image AB  high-resolution aerial filming with a gyro-stabilized camera system are carried out. At speeds up to 210 knots (IAS) the missions can consist of filming everything from landscapes to aircraft manufacturers' test flights, or scenes in a film production. The camera system can pan 360 degrees and is lowered through the camera hole in the floor during filming while being transported rasied and fully protected inside the cabin to and from the mission area.

LASER SCANNING - 3D models above and below water-level.

For accurate terrain models, laser scanning is the best option. Our Turbo Commanders can be equipped for scanning over water and land, also well suited for flights at low altitudes and in difficult terrain.

GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY - Airborne bedrock mapping.

We're also measuring what's below the ground-level and the seabed. On behalf of Swedish Geological Survey, SGU , mapping of Sweden's bedrock has been carried out for many years. The aircraft equipment registers among other parameters, the variation of the magnetic field, the ground's electrical conductivity and gamma radiation. With these parameters a picture of the bedrock hundreds of meters below the ground-level is generated. The flights are performed at 60 meters (200 ft) above ground along lines which are 200-500 meters apart.

BUSINESS FLIGHTS - Freight and passengers, according to your own schedule...

During periods when our aircraft are not used for other missions, it is possible to rent them for taxi flights of passengers or cargo. This is often an efficient and economical option for business travel. The cabin accommodates six passengers in comfortable seats.

We cover northern Europe in a few hours, and in addition to the main airports, there are a large number of smaller airports to choose from.
We always fly with two experienced pilots and the aircrafts are equipped for flying in all weather conditions.

HISTORY

Our origin is the old AB Värmlandsflyg which was started in Karlstad back in 1946. The geophysical flight surveys began in 1963 when the company moved to Torsby. When AB Värmlandsflyg ceased operations, parts of it were transferred to the new Wermlandsflyg.

Year 2000

Wermlandsflyg is founded by Anders and Lena Öberg. The main office is located in Vägsjöfors north of Torsby municipality, the business consists of sightseeing-flights with a seaplane and consulting activities for airlines.

Year 2002

Two more aircraft are acquired as the business is expanded with geophysical survey and oblique photography. The new assignments are carried out mainly on behalf of government agencies.

Year 2003

A seaplane base is established in Grövelsjön, transporting tourists and cargo for fishing in the surrounding lakes.

Year 2005

One of the aircraft is replaced by a twin-engine aircraft with capacity for digital map photography and laser scanning. The business is expanded into the Norwegian market through an agreement with Terratec.  During the winter, we now have capacity for taxi flights in all weather conditions.

Year 2006

A big step is taken when the business is expanded with four turboprop aircraft. Following the takeover of Air Service in Torsby, Wermlandsflyg now also has its own maintenance facility. The seaplane operations are put aside to focus on other business-areas. A new  aerial photography contract is signed for for Lantmäteriet .

Year 2007

The company's main office is moved to Torsby Airport and Air Service changes name to Wermlandsflyg Maintenance AB. The new operations include missions throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Year 2013

The ownership changes when Stefan Mörck and Torbjörn Olsson acquire 60% of Wermlandsflyg. A new contract is signed with the Swedish Geological Survey for geophysical flight survey and nuclear incident response.

Year 2015

The AOC-operations are put aside to focus on the core business of photo and survey flights. Wermlandsflyg Maintenance expands the operations with a maintenance facility in Gävle and hires additional staff.

Year 2016

A technical type-rating for Turbo Commander is held with 9 technicians from Sweden, Finland and Italy.  During the autumn, a new CEO is hired who also works as a pilot in the company.

Year 2017

A new agreement with Norwegian TerraTec enters into force and the aircraft fleet is expanded with an additional Turbo Commander.

Year 2018

A new contract is signed with SGU and an additional Turbo Commander is leased during the season for Lantmäteriet operations.

Year 2019

A new contract is signed with Lantmäteriet, which includes two Turbo Commander aircraft. Lantmäteriet and Wermlandsflyg moves the base from Gävle to Borlänge after the closure of Gävle Airport. Wermlandsflyg's both companies are merged for practical reasons.

Year 2020

A new contract is signed with TerraTec . A new line of business is introduced in cooperation with Blue Sky Image AB for aerial filming with gyro-stabilized camera systems.

Year 2022

Wermlandsflyg regains its AOC and is once again approved for Commercial Air Transport of passengers and cargo.
